| Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 4 Sword Rating Harry Potter Series Book 7 J. K. Rowling Mary GrandPre Illustrator Arthur A. Levine Books July 2007 Fantasy ISBN: 978-0545010221 4 Swords In the concluding novel of the incredibly popular series Harry Potter and the*, Harry once again confronts the evil wizard whose murderous actions inspired the path of Harry’s life: Lord Voldemort, whose alias is He-Who-Must- Not-Be-Named. The burning question throughout the book, which this reviewer found very emotionally wrenching {in common with Books 5 and 6} is of course, whether Harry or Voldemort will in the end succeed. It wouldn’t be giving the denouements away to say that readers will race through The Deadly Hallows with heart in mouth, just as in prior books in this series. This is truly a roller-coaster ride, and as in Books 5 and 6, the lows are indeed very deep—reader be warned. Those who are extraordinarily sensitive are advised to pick up this book with caution. This reviewer was impressed with the character depths demonstrated in The Deadly Hallows. I think that this installment, perhaps more than any previous, reached into the philosophy of the series and into the unexplored aspects of main characters Harry, Hermione, and Ron. There is a strong romantic element occurring in The Deadly Hallows also; and without naming character names, we can say that more than one romance flows in and out of the multiple plot lines. I rated Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows at 4 Swords because of the emotionally wrenching nature of this particular volume. As stated, it was a difficult novel to read; although I raced through it with heart in mouth, I found some events terribly disappointing and difficult to cope with. --Reviewed by Frost— August 9, 2007 If you would like to be Reviewed by Frost, send an email to frost@jlfoster.biz or reviewed_by_frost@jlfoster.biz with the subject line "Submission."
