| Rating: 5 Swords Little Kunoichi Tania Walsh Amira Press Futuristic/Multicultural August 2007 http://www.amirapress.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=62 32 pp. 5 Swords Little Kunoichi is one of those novellas that requires a fire extinguisher within easy reach of the reader. For those who like violence cleverly interspersed with sexuality that tears off the pages, Little Kunoichi is the current addiction of choice. Run to your nearest download outlet and grab up this baby; it won’t put you to sleep but it will make excellent bedtime reading. Feisty but troubled heroine Mika Takei lives in an ugly future society which we all hope we never have to witness. Orphaned early and onto the streets, her rescuer Shiro Ito is a brothel owner. No, he doesn’t employ her in that role; instead, he trains Mika as a highly-skilled assassin to take on the MOB, the elite group ruling what used to be society. Against a backdrop of routine ruled by fear in a 1984-type society, Mika’s puzzling sexuality and thirst for violence ensure she is one of the top available assassins-until for the first time she acts on her emotions and her world comes crashing around her. I truly hope author Tania Walsh will publish more soon; Little Kunoichi is one hot and stunning number which immediately found its way to my Bedtime Reading Shelf.
