| Rating: 5 Swords Matching Tats J. M. Snyder Amber Quill Press/Amber Allure August 2007 ISBN-13: 978-1-60272-094-7 Gay / Fantasy / Superheroes / Exhibitionism / Public Places / Series Sequel to The Powers of Love http://amberquill.com/AmberAllure/MatchingTats.html http://jmsnyder.net/books/aqp.html 47 pp. 5 Swords Lovers/friends Vic and Matt return a year and a half after they finally become intimate on New Year’s Eve, gaining brawny Vic new superpowers gifted by Matt’s fluids. Matt has finally come to terms with Vic’s love for him, alleviating his memories of previous lovers who loved the powers he gave them instead of loving the man himself. As Matt becomes more certain of himself and their relationship, he turns to thoughts of proving his love: by getting a tattoo with Vic’s name or initials. Vic is a tattoo display, and he cautions Matt that much pain is involved, not to mention permanence. When Vic starts sprouting spontaneous tattoos following their lovemaking, the superhuman aspects begin to seem supernatural. Matt really wants to do the tattoo thing for Vic, but he just needs to be urged into it and past his fear of the needles and pain. The actual event opens up even more intriguing super possibilities, and a much deeper love and bond between Matt and Vic. Matching Tats and its prequel, The Powers of Love, are delightful short tales exploring the true depths and heights of love, which has its own powers. Weaving in the comic book fantasy elements in a realistic way that zooms right past the reader’s potential disbelief, J. M. Snyder ignites our erotic sensibilities while tugging our heartstrings. I don’t think any reader will close these two tales without a smile and maybe a tear of joy.
