Snyder combines a scorchingly sensual eroticism with a deeply powerful emotional attachment in this amazingly complex tale of a couple who discover that love and loving bring unexpected, impossible, talents to bear. Vic and Matt meet at the gym, but Vic throttles his interest for over seven months, mistakenly believing Matt is wrapped in a hot affair with Vic’s coworker Kyle. Vic won’t go for another man’s guy, so he holds back, until he discovers that Matt and Kyle only dated and were never sexually involved at all. He persists even though Matt wants to hold back on intimacy, because the electric emotion he’s experienced toward Matt since the first moment their eyes met signals more than just a hot one-time fling. On New Year’s Eve, the two finally come together in a blazing ecstasy, and Vic soon discovers he’s gained abilities not native to human beings: superhuman strength, flying, mind-reading, to name a few. But he’ll drop every one of these talents if it means keeping Matt by his side. Accomplished author J. M. Snyder sizzles the pages with this short but powerful tale. Readers of all sorts will climb to the heights and slide to the depths as Matt and Vic try to work through their differences in the face of Vic’s sudden new abilities.
