I’ve never read a Stella & Audra Price story I didn’t love, but The Soft Edge of Midnight is riveting. I opened it despite the back-up on my to-do list and couldn’t put it aside till I finished. The Soft Edge of Midnight is a very special love story, with depths even The Sisters Price hadn’t yet plumbed—until now. This is a Must-Read for aficionados of the Price Sisters—and for anyone who loves good writing, deep romance, sizzling sensuality, and mythology- meets-metaphysics. Hot plot, depths of character, fast pace: this story has it all and more! It’s an odd universe, the Eververse, and now we learn it includes even the good Angels and the Fallen, those nasty denizens of Hell who love nothing better than to climb over each other in their individual quests to be the best in their evil work. Belial had kept pure virginal last-of-her- kind Unicorn mare Illori captive in an iron collar for 1000 years, drawing on her precognition and luck. But Belial has been destroyed, by assailants Illori didn’t recognize, and she has been freed. What is life, though, with her sisters gone, their descendants willfully blind to her claims, and no Unicorn stallion to mate with her and gift her with offspring and his life force? Riding to the rescue comes the one she thought impossible. Karsten Morris is a royal Unicorn Stallion who works for a clandestine Agency under Britain’s MI-6. It’s love to the rescue, but meanwhile the forces of Hell are bargaining-and betting- against them, and Illori and Karsten must battle two competitive Fallen, both of whom are determined to win, at the cost of Unicorn lives.
