| Rating: 4 Swords The Ballet Melissa Glisan Red Rose Publishing 978-1-6o435-006-7 Contemporary Romance 24 pp. 4 Swords http://redrosepublishing.com/bookstore/product_info.php?products_id=32&osCsid=2620aae686d7d78938418d79bc3052bc Soldier Ryan Moran attends the New Year's Eve dance only to keep his younger brother Brad company. He's seen so much ugliness and tragedy overseas that the shallow social grasping all around him palls immediately; but the tragic, quiet beauty in the corner, weeping silently at insults heaped on her by a punk with an inflated sense of ego, inflames Ryan's sensibilities and his ire. When Brad tells Ryan that the young lady is their former classmate Rose Fineman, who had been seriously injured in an auto accident which killed her family, Ryan is even more determined to meet her. A moment of conversation and one slow dance is enough to convince both to follow their hearts. Yet Ryan must leave on the morrow to return to active duty. He asks Rose to wait--but two years is a very long time, and danger lurks around every hidden corner for a soldier. Melissa Glisan graces us with a heartwarming tale written in a lovely descriptive fashion. She paints equally well the shallow society high-steppers and the deep family bonds of Rose's lost family and Ryan's huge Irish brood. The reader will have heart in throat with concerns for Ryan's safety and his reunion with Rose.
